Since 1972 Ted's Signs has been located in the beautiful Brainerd Lakes area of central Minnesota. Ted's signs was started by Ted and Joanne. The Brainerd Lakes area was a wonderful place to grow up in.
My mom is originally from the area, but when she was old enough to drive she wanted to go to the big city and explore who she could become. This is where she met my dad who grew up in NE Minneapolis. After several years of living in the Twin Cities, they decided to sell everything and move north.
In 1968 my dad (Ted) had the opportunity to work for a man named Ray and entered the world of signs. My dad then started Ted's Sign Company. Because he did not have a painter my mom soon had a paintbrush in her hand and also began learning the sign business.
I grew up in the sign business and have seen how it has changed over the years. I attended Detroit Lakes Technical College to sharpen my sign making skills!
In 1996 I bought the business so my parents could semi-retire. My dad thought I was nuts buying all of the "high tech" equipment and said I would have to sell a lot of stickers to pay for the machines. Well, I have done just that and have also kept upgrading equipment numerous times.
Today the equipment I use is produced by Gerber and I use mostly 3M vinyl products as they are the best in the industry.
My husband and I still believe in the old fashioned value of not letting anything out the door unless it is exactly what you expect it to be. |
